The small print
Cookies
This page is short because there is very little to say. This site does not track you, does not measure you and does not sell anything about you to anyone. One small item is kept in your browser so that we do not ask you the same question on every page.
The one thing we store
When you answer the banner at the bottom of the screen, your answer is written into your browser's local storage under a single key. That is it. It sits on your own device, it is never sent to us, and all it does is stop the banner reappearing.
If you clear your browser's site data, that entry goes with it and the banner will ask again on your next visit. Nothing else about your previous visits is remembered, because nothing else was written down.
What we do not run
No analytics. We do not know how many people read this page, which pages are popular, how long anyone stays or where they came from, and we have decided we can live without knowing.
No advertising pixels, no remarketing tags, no social media buttons that phone home, no heat maps, no session recording and no fingerprinting. There is no third-party script on this site whose job is to watch you.
No cross-site tracking of any kind, which means nothing you do here can follow you to another site, and nothing you did elsewhere is visible to us.
Technically necessary bits
The enquiry form carries a short-lived token so that the submission cannot be forged by someone else. It exists only while you have the form open and holds nothing about you.
The hosting service keeps brief server logs of requests, as any web server does, in order to stay up and to fend off abuse. We do not read them for insight, we do not join them to anything, and they rotate away on a short cycle.
Fonts, images and anything loaded from elsewhere
Typefaces and images are served from the same place as the pages, so your browser does not quietly connect to a third party in order to draw this site. That is a deliberate choice and it is the main reason the pages are plain.
There are no embedded maps, no embedded video players and no social feeds, each of which would bring its own tracking with it. Where we would otherwise embed a map, we have written directions instead.
Changing your mind
Clear your browser's storage for this site and the banner returns with both choices available again. Since the only stored item is the banner answer, there is nothing else to withdraw and no preference centre to wade through.
Declining does not change what the site does, because declining is already how the site behaves. The banner exists so that you know, not so that we can obtain permission for something.
If this ever changes
If we ever added anything that watched visitors, this page would say so in the same plain words and the banner would ask properly, with a real choice and no dark patterns. We have no plans to, and the room does not need it.
Questions about any of this go to the desk on the phone number on the contact page. A host will either answer or find the person who looks after the site and get you a straight reply.
